VirexpR offers a wide range of R&D and consulting services in the field of virology.

VirexpR has specific infrastructures adapted to pathogenic viruses (BSL-2 and BSL-3 facilities) with highly skilled personnel in the handling, production and quantification of several infectious viruses and other pathogenic microorganisms.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of viral strains available: Influenza viruses (human, avian and swine); pneumoviruses (respiratory syncytial virus and metapneumovirus); adenoviruses; coronaviruses (SARS-CoV-2 and its variants, HCoV-229E); rhinoviruses, etc…

  • Pneumoviruses: RSV and metapneumovirus, responsible for bronchiolitis in young children and severe pneumonia in the elderly. Epidemic, seasonal virus, responsible each year for the hospitalization of several thousand people, today no vaccine or antiviral is available.
  • Human influenza viruses: in France, for example, the flu is responsible for 2 to 8 million infections each year, including 4 to 6,000 deaths and nearly 4 million lost working days, despite several available vaccines and antivirals.

  • Avian and swine influenza viruses: seasonal, endemic, and epidemic viruses, responsible each year for the slaughter of many animals and a significant loss of production for farmers.

  • The SARS-CoV-2 virus: pandemic virus responsible for the Covid-19 disease. To date (early 2022), the virus and its variants have caused nearly 140,000 deaths in France and 6 million deaths worldwide.
